Cheek enhancement by Dr. Lina Kotecha

The cheek bone area is a key treatment area for many individuals seeking a lift in one of several aspects of the face. The zygomatic or malar area of the cheeks is the area of the high cheek bone below the rims of the eyes that extends out to the sides of the face.

Over time, skeletal changes, fat loss and collagen depletetion will flatten the malar area of the cheeks. This can in turn accentuate sagging in many areas of the face like the hollows under eyes, the jowls and a downward turn of the lips.

Dr. Lina Kotecha at Glen Dental uses a series of dermal filler injections to make your cheeks look a little fuller and reduce unsightly jowls and wrinkles. Alternatively, younger patients may simply desire more prominent/defined cheekbones.

The flattering new facial contours will give you a refreshed, rejuvenated and a more defined appearance.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What are cheek fillers?

This procedure is used to lift and rejuvenate your cheeks, all without the need for painful surgical operations. Dr. Lina Kotecha use dermal fillers (made from Hyaluronic Acid) to improve the appearance of your cheeks and reduce saggy, aged-looking skin.

  • How does cheek enhancement work?

As you get older, you may begin to notice some sagginess in the skin on your face. This is a common sign of ageing, but Dr. Lina Kotecha can use dermal fillers to make your cheeks look a little fuller and reduce unsightly jowls and wrinkles. Alternatively, younger patients may simply desire more prominent/defined cheekbones.

  • What does the cheek filler procedure involve?

Dr Lina Kotecha begins by applying a cream containing a topical anaesthetic across the face. Once the topical anaesthetic has taken effect, a series of several small injections containing dermal filler will be administered. The dermal filler will fill out your cheeks and replenish their youthful appearance.

  • What effect does a cheek filler have

If your cheeks have become jowly or started to sag, the facial fillers will help to reverse this classic sign of ageing, giving your cheeks added lift and a vibrant fullness. This effect will last for 12-18 months.

  • Are there any side effects?

You may notice a mild swelling/soreness straight after the procedure. This is a perfectly normal reaction to the injection and it will subside in due course usually within 48 hours.

  • Should I have cheek fillers?

Cheek enhancement is not suitable for pregnant/breastfeeding women or anyone who suffers from severe allergies.

Full list of side effects, cautions and contraindications will be discussed at your face to face consultation.

Please note: Any injectable procedure will only be undertaken after your face to face consultation with Dr. Lina Kotecha, during which a full assessment will be carried out and full list of cautions and contraindications discussed.

  • Aftercare

    • Refrain from touching, rubbing or massaging the filled area for six hours after your treatment is complete
    • Avoid exposing the filled area to extremely high or low temperatures
    • Be careful whilst washing the filled area of your face
  • How long do cheek fillers last?

Depending on exactly the type of dermal filler used and the location of the dermal filler placement cheek fillers often last between 6 months and 1 year with some treatments lasting up to 2 years.
