Enlighten Tooth Whitening

One of the most common complaints people have about their teeth is that they have lost some of their natural sheen and are not as bright as they used to be. Teeth will naturally become darker as we get a little older. Over a period of time, the food and drinks we enjoy can stain even the best cared-for teeth. Drinking red wine, tea and coffee are among the worst culprits, whilst habits such as smoking can further stain your teeth. This can make you feel self-conscious about your smile and negatively affect your self-esteem.

Shrik Kotecha has been a ‘Gold’ member of the British Dental Bleaching Society and has been trained by some of the leading experts in the field of professional tooth whitening.

Enlighten’s Evolution professional teeth whitening procedure is the only system in the world that will whiten up to 16 shades easily and safely and will give you a dramatic look.

Some people like their teeth to look naturally brighter, while others dream of a Hollywood smile. Whatever your choice, Enlighten is the only tooth whitening system in the world to guarantee the teeth will get to a VITA shade B1, which is the whitest shade on a regular dentist shade guide. They will often go above this scale, giving you true pearly whites!

Enlighten Tooth Whitening process works by increasing the tooth’s permeability to oxygen which breaks down stain molecules, this is achieved via a whitening gel. It is a combination treatment meaning that there is a 2 week home treatment followed by a 1 hour visit to the dentist.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    • Does coconut oil pulling teeth whitening work?

As a leading tooth whitening clinic, we are often asked whether coconut oil whitens teeth.

The practice of coconut oil pulling dates back hundreds of years in Indian and South Asian medicine however, there is not enough scientific evidence to prove coconut oil pulling is beneficial to your oral health at all let alone being effective to whiten your teeth.

Natural coconut oil tooth whitening toothpastes may also pose a risk to the health of your teeth if they do not contain an optimal level of fluoride to help prevent tooth decay.

    • Does charcoal tooth whitening toothpaste work?

According to a leading charity, The Oral Health Foundation which has looked at new research relating to the effectiveness and safety of charcoal tooth whitening toothpastes has suggested that there is no robust evidence which currently supports the claims made by many of these increasingly popular products in terms of tooth whitening and, importantly, some products may be actually harmful as they do not contain a suitable level of fluoride to help prevent tooth decay.

In recent years, the use of activated charcoal whitening toothpaste has become increasingly popular, mainly due to celebrity endorsements.  Activated charcoal has become a featured ‘health ingredient’  products including in lip balms, deodorants and face masks. However, many of the celebrity smiles we see are not as a direct result of simply using an activated charcoal toothpaste and are as a result of professional tooth whitening carried out at with a dentist.

    • How white will my teeth get?

Enlighten Professional Teeth Whitening can whiten up to 16 shades, results vary but if used correctly all teeth will whiten dramatically.

    • Will they look too white?

No, natural teeth rarely look too white. Sometimes very white crowns can look wrong because they are made of porcelain.

    • Will my crowns, veneers or fillings change colour?

No, sometimes you may need to change some of these after whitening.

    • Is there pain or discomfort?

One side-effect from teeth whitening is that you may get some sensitivity, however your dentist will give you easy to use desensitising swabs to take home, which will work immediately. You will also receive a tube of Tooth Serum toothpaste to brush with, while you wait for your trays, this also helps with sensitivity.

  • How long does it take?

Two weeks after your dentist delivers your Enlighten Whitening trays. These are thin and comfortable and must be worn in bed for 14 nights, then on the 15th day you need to see your dentist for the second treatment which takes only 40 minutes.

  • How long does Teeth whitening last?

Results can last indefinitely with some very simple maintenance, wearing the trays for 1 night every other month. Continuing to brush with Evo-White will also prolong results.

  • Is it safe?

Completely, the materials used in Enlighten Teeth Whitening System have been used in dentistry for over 100 years.

Glen Dental offer teeth whitening services to to patients from Oadby, Wigston, Kibworth, Great Glen, Leicester, Market Harborough, and Oakham.

  • How much does teeth whitening cost?

The costs of teeth whitening vary depending on the type of teeth whitening treatment you have and the teeth whitening kit used. A tooth whitening consultation is free, airflow stain removal (a quick way to remove surface stains and make your teeth look whiter) is from £97 and enlighten home teeth whitening costs from £325.

  • How does teeth whitening work?

Teeth whitening works with an active ingredient which is either hydrogen or carbamide peroxide. The peroxide releases oxygen which react with the discoloured molecules which make your teeth look dark. As this reaction happens the bonds which hold the dark molecules together are broken down by the oxygen with the result that your teeth look whiter.

  • Which teeth whitening kit is the best?

Because there are multiple ways to whiten your teeth, from simple things such as whitening toothpaste to air abrasion to home whitening it depends upon the result you are looking for as to which whitening kit is best. Air abrasion can have an immediate effect, home teeth whitening takes approximately 2 weeks and whitening your teeth with a whitening toothpaste can take considerably longer. Our advice is to decide how white you want your teeth and how long you want the process to take and then have a discussion with your dentist about which teeth whitening kit is best for you.
